AlcPM is a "pacemaker" for Alcatel Speed Touch ADSL modems. It actively monitors your ADSL connection and reboots the modem whenever it determines that the modem has crashed. This is an effective remedy for Alcatel modems that frequently lose line synchronization due to noise in the ADSL line. AlcPM is also useful for logging outages in your ISPs DSL circuit, which you can use as evidence when asking for prorated outage refunds.
AlcPM is a "must have" for people who run web servers over their ADSL lines using an Alcatel Speed Touch modem.
AlcPM pings an address on the other side of your modem to verify connectivity. When the pinging fails, AlcPM communicates directly with your modem and tells it to reset. Your network is then restored within one minute.
AlcPM is distributed under the GNU General Public License, and is available for free download from the AlcPM download page.
The AlcPM documentation is available on-line. Read it here.
