Fast DES

Fast DES is a highly optimized, highly configurable implementation of the Data Encryption Standard (DES) for the Java™ platform. Fast DES was designed with four goals in mind:

accuracy
speed
ease of use
configurability

Fast DES utilizes Sharkysoft's proprietary reformulation of DES optimized for 32-bit machines. Tests have shown that Fast DES can outperform the JCE (Sun's cryptography library) in DES computations by as much as 25%.

Fast DES was initially released as an integrated feature of Lava, a general-purpose class library for Java. By popular demand, it is now distributed in its own bundle.
